ACS NSW announces Michelle Blicavs as new CEO

The Association of Consulting Surveyors (ACS NSW) has today announced the appointment of Michelle Blicavs as its new Chief Executive Officer of ACS NSW and Consulting Surveyors National.

Most recently Chief Executive Officer of the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) Australia, Michelle spent five years growing and improving this Association.  Her leadership and focus on member engagement at IAP2 will prove to be assets to ACS NSW over the coming years.

Commenting on Michelle’s appointment, Mark Andrew, President of ACS NSW, stated that ‘ACS NSW will continue in its advocacy efforts with gusto over the next few years as we assist in developing and protecting the surveying profession.  However, it will also be a time for getting back to the fundamentals – providing core services to our membership base in order to help NSW surveying businesses grow.

Michelle is exactly what the Association needs to achieve this goal.  Her experience, drive and enthusiasm are valuable strengths, which will help her take the Association to the next level. The ACS NSW is thrilled to have Michelle on the team.’

Michelle brings to the role a diversity of business, association and political experience, including a developed understanding of the workings of council and government via her tenure as a Councillor for Wollongong City Council and position on a government board. This experience will be fundamental in forging closer and more effective working relationships with government and industry, in order to create positive change for the surveying profession.

Commenting on her appointment, Michelle said ‘I look forward to combining my long-term business and association knowledge with a new-found knowledge of the Surveying profession.

One of my first tasks will be to speak to each ACS NSW member in order to not only gain a better understanding of the profession but most importantly, their individual business needs.  This will help me to develop and enhance the Association over the coming years.

I am particularly looking forward to the National Surveying Congress in Sydney in March 2018 where I hope to meet surveyors from around Australia to truly understand the impact surveying has on our economy. From my time as a Councillor, I know that nothing is built without this profession and we need to ensure the future of surveying in our country.’

Michelle has a particular passion for regional and country areas and proudly calls Wollongong home.

Transitioning into the role from mid-November, Michelle will commence in her full-time position on 15 January 2018.
